It doesn't seem like it's already been a year that we lost Shane. It's been tough not having him around. I really don't know what else to say. I can't explain how much of a positive impact Shane has made on my life. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about him. I also talk to him every night after I pray.

Things have been going pretty good at the Nothin But Try Ranch. I have a pretty good size bucking bred cow herd built up now. It's definitely keeping me busy. Jesse is down here staying with me for the winter. It's been nice hanging out with him. I also started team roping a little bit. It's been pretty fun so far and much safer than riding bulls.

I hope all is well with everyone. Thanks for all the messages and prayers lately! Have a blessed week and, like Shane always said, don't forget to smile!

God Bless,
Chad Drury

I hope everyone had a great summer! I've been staying really busy with my new ranch. Things are coming along slowly but surely. My pastures are getting filled up with bucking bred cattle which is really exciting. I haven't got to do as much as I'd like to since I'm also working full time. But, it sure is nice to finally have a place to call home!

Jesse is at a horse shoeing school right now and will be staying with me for the winter. It's going to be nice to hang out with him since we don't get to spend much time together. Not to mention that you can't beat free labor! lol

Tall Paul is staying pretty busy in Colorado. Our grandad isn't doing very well, so he's been pretty busy making sure he is in good hands.

In addition to preserving Shane's legacy with this site, we would also like to reach out to families that are struggling with loved once challenged with cancer. Feel free to send me an email on the Contact Us page if you need any support.

Chad Drury

I hope everyone is doing well and having a great summer! I finally closed on the Nothin But Try Ranch in Erick, OK on Monday. Tall Paul is coming down tomorrow to help me move. It's going to be nice to finally get out of an apartment. I've lived in 7 different cities since college and am ready to settle down for once! I've been keeping busy with work and taking care of my cows. I've also been judging a few bull ridings which has been a lot of fun.

Jesse is staying busy with his brochure distribution business. It's a seasonal businees, so he plans on coming down for the winter.

Jesse, dad and I went to Casper, Wyoming last week for the College National Finals Rodeo to give Shane's scholarship away. It was great hanging out with them since we don't see each other too often.

Congratulations to Texie Rose of Weber State University. She was the recipient of the $2500 scholarship and very deserving of it. Texie is battling cervical cancer and is going at it with the refuse to lose attitude that Shane had. She is still rodeoing while going through treatments. Good luck Texie, we'll be praying for you!

I hope everyone is doing great and enjoying their summer.

God Bless,

I hope all is well with everyone. I sent 100 copies of the DVD and CD of Shane's service. The DVD was of some graduation instead of the video that was played. Somehow, the wrong DVD was burnt. I'll get the correct one sent out to everyone who requested one when I get them. Sorry for the confusion!

Things are going great in Sayre. I found a ranch that I'm closing on July 1st. I'm excited to get out of my apartment for good!! I've been staying really busy which is always good.

Jesse, Dad and I are all heading up to the College Finals in Casper, Wyo. in a couple weeks to give away the Shane Drury Scholarship award. We're all looking forward to getting to spend some time together.

I hope you all have a great summer!

God Bless,
Chad Drury

Long time not update! I haven't gotten my computer fixed at home, so it's tough to get updates as often as I like. Everything is going great though! I'm still looking for a ranch out here. There's a few places that came up for sale that I'm looking into. Hopefully the right place will come along soon! I've been judging a few bull ridings, which has been a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to judging a lot more. Work is going really good as well.

Jesse had some wristbands made up that he will be selling for Shane's Scholarship Fund. I'll get a picture up of them as soon as possible. The PDF file is too big to put on here, so I have to have firgure out a way to get the picture of the wristband up.

I hope you all are doing well and are enjoying the beautiful spring weather!

The Effort to fund The Shane Drury Scholarship continues with the offering of Nothin' But Try wrist bands. These bands serve as a tribute to Shane's persevering attitude and spirituality. The proceeds will go to fund the scholarship awarded in his name. The baby blue wristbands are embossed with Shane's motto of "Nothin' But Try", the Christian fish symbol, and Shane's initials.

The Christian fish symbol is called the Ichthys fish. This is the theory behind the orgin of the symbol. In the years following the ascension of the resurrected Jesus to heaven, the Christian church grew rapidly. Christians soon found themselves to be the subjects of persecution by both the Romans and the Jews. In many locales, it became dangerous to be known as a Christian. Thus, when two strangers met and thought maybe they were fellow believers, one of them would draw, on the ground, the upper half of the fish symbol. Recognizing the symbol, the stranger would add a second curved line and complete the drawing of a fish. It could be drawn quickly, and erased just as quickly if the there was no sign of recognition on the part of the stranger.

Jesse Drury is handling the sale of these bands. You can place your order by sending your mailing info and $5.00 for each band to Jesse at 12262 Boulder Road, Sturgis, SD 57785. Please make your checks payable to the Shane Drury Scholarship Fund.

I hope all is well with everyone. I haven't had a chance to get on a computer since I moved twice! I moved to my ranch for a couple days and decided that Sayre, Oklahoma is where I need to be at. Sayre is 2 hours west of Oklahoma City on Interstate 40. It's the home of Trinity Fellowship Church, which is the primary reason why I moved out here. I also will be working for the ABBI (American Bucking Bull Incorporated) doing some sales and promotional work. It's going to be nice not having to wear a suit and tie to work everyday!

The benefit auction we had on www.thebreedersconnection.com was a huge success. We raised $14,865 for the Shane Drury Scholarship. This scholarship will be around for a long time!

Our dad is still working on Shane's book. He needs to get in touch with several people that have good stories to shared about Shane. If you have something you would like to share, please leave a private message on here with your contact information and Paul will get in touch with you.

Jesse is back in South Dakota getting ready for the tourism season to start. Tall Paul is in Colorado staying busy with work and the book.

I would also like to ask everyone to pray for Lee Akin. He was stepped on in the head at a bull riding in Alabama last weekend. He is still in an induced coma. The doctors removed 1/3 of his skull to relieve the pressure, which was a success. He also has a blood clot that needs to go away.

That's all for now. I hope you all have a great week!

God Bless,
Chad Drury

Sorry I haven't been giving updates as often as I'd like. It's time for a big update!

First of all, the first annual Shane Drury Award was given away last Sunday at the Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo. The award went to Ashley Andrews, who won Miss Rodeo America while battling cancer. Ashley was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease last January, did chemotherapy for six months and went into remission in August last year. During that time, she was also Miss Rodeo North Dakota. Congratulations Ashley on winning the first annual Shane Drury Award!! A special thanks goes out to Mavis Madison and Black Hills Bronze (Grant Standard, owner). Mavis sculpted the bronze and Black Hills Bronze is donating the foundry production costs every year for the award. This is a great way to keep Shane's legacy going for years.

We will be having an auction to benefit the Shane Drury Scholarship. Some of the best genetics in the bucking bull industry will be offered in the Shane Drury Scholarship auction along with a bronze of Drury. The scholarship was designed to continue his legacy in and out of the arena and keep the inspiration of “Nothin but Try” going. The auction will be on-line at www.thebreedersconnection.com, hosted by Nate Morrison. It will be divided into two parts with the first being held Feb. 20th – 23rd and the second Feb. 27th – March 2. Genetics from Andrews Rodeo, Bad Company Rodeo, Beutler and Son Rodeo, Classic ProRodeo, Frontier Rodeo, Don Kish, Stace Smith Pro Rodeo, and many others will be offered. The bronze is of Drury riding 409 Orleans owned by Beutler and Son Rodeo during the Greeley (Colo.) Independence Stampede. It was created by Mavis Madison. To donate, contact nate@thebreedersconnection.com. For more information about the scholarship contact Susan Kanode, (817) 307-6336 or susan@cowgirlimaging.com. All proceeds will go to the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Foundation in Drury’s name. The foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization.

Finally, I am also happy to let you all know that I will be moving to my ranch in Tupelo, Oklahoma the end of this month. I've decided that I'd rather be happy than rich, so I'm going from being a full-time business man to being a full-time cowboy again. It was tough letting them (CareMax Medical Resources, a division of Maxim Healthcare Services) know that I decided to leave since they've done so much for me. They knew how much Shane meant to me and understood that he came first and fully supported me with that. Every time my President called me, he would always ask how Shane was doing before talking about business. The people within the organization are great and I will truly miss them. The time has come for me to take care of me and get my priorities in life straight. I'd like to get involved with the business side of rodeo or bull riding in the near future. I'm not worried about anything because I know that the good Lord will open doors for me!

Jesse and Tall Paul have been doing good. Dad has been staying busy in Colorado and Jesse has been at a friend's house in north Texas playing cowboy since Christmas. We are going to hang out this weekend.

I hope you all are having a great week!

God Bless,
Chad Drury

I hope everyone is doing well. Things are going okay in Houston. The first time I ever had to wear a winter coat down here was last week. I've been extremely busy with work. I have my hands full right now to say the least. There are days where I just want to say the heck with it and move to my ranch in Oklahoma and be a full time cowboy again. Unfortunately, that doesn't pay the bills!

I received the copies of the audio of Shane's service. I should receive the copies of the DVD we played sometime next week. Once I receive those, I'll start sending copies to all who requested them.

I've also attached a picture of the bronze sculpture of Shane that Mavis Madison, a friend of ours from South Dakota made. The picture that was used is the one on the Home page. We will be auctioning it off the last two weeks of February on www.thebreedersconnection.com along with bucking bull semen. 100% of the proceeds will go to The Shane Drury Scholarship. I will post more information as it gets closer.

I hope you all have a great week. Like Shane always said, don't forget to smile!

Chad Drury

Happy New Year!!!!

I don't know about you all, but I sure am glad 2006 is OVER!! I'm looking forward do a fresh start with the new year!

I hope everyone had an awesome Christmas and a fun and safe New Year.

We all had a great time. There were a few tough times, but overall it was really good. Jesse and I spent Christmas at Bob Tallman's with Susan. It was very nice of Bob and his family to invite us over. Our dad came down to my ranch the next Wednesday. We just hung out and were cowboys all week. It sure as heck beats wearing a suit! We all don't get together as much as I'd like since we all live in different parts of the country. It's always good to spend time together.

It's been a busy day at work this week to say the least since I was off all last week. Hopefully, I'll get caught up soon.

I hope you all have a great weekend. Remember to smile, it makes the day much more enjoyable!

God Bless,
Chad Drury

Galatians 6:7-10 "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers."
