Merry Christmas everyone!
Everything is going great! It's excting that Shane's book is now available. Hopefully it touches people's lives and continues Shane's legacy. The primary reason for the book is to raise money for Shane's scholarship. I'm looking forward to getting my copy from Tall Paul on Tuesday! We've gotten some very positive feedback from some people that have already received and read their books.
We'll be going to Jenny's parent's house for Christmas again this year. Jenny is really looking forward to seeing her nephew, Jace. He's adorable and will be 6 months tomorrow. We always have a good time at the in-law's.
Jesse had Lasik eye surgery last week. Everything went well. He's going in for a check up Wednesday morning. His eye's are burning quite a bit, which is normal for the type of surgery that he had. His hand is healing up, but slower than expected. He should be able to start doing more with it and riding his horses towards the end of January.
Tall Paul has been busy with work as usual. He received 250 copies of Shane's book last Thursday. He's been signing a bunch and sending them out to people that ordered them through him. He plans on coming down sometime after the 1st of the year.
I hope you all have a very blessed and safe Christmas! Remember to smile and not forget the true meaning of Christmas!
God Bless,
Chad Drury
Luke 2:10-14 Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger." And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!".

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! It's been a great year for me, so I have a lot to be thankful for!!
Jenny and I had a great time with her parents at the PBR Finals. We watched some really good bull riding and I didn't lose any money playing poker! For the first time, I actually went out and played tourist. It was a lot of fun.
I passed my CDL drive test a few weeks ago, PTL!! I was driving a truck I've never driven before, so I was pretty nervous. I've been working for my neighbor moving frac tanks out in the oil field. It's pretty darn fun driving a big truck! Now, I'm in the process of finding my own truck. Hopefully, I'll find a good deal on one soon.
Jenny and I spent Thanksgving at her parents house. We really enjoy spending time down there when we can. I was sick the whole time I was there and am finally starting to feel better. Jenny's dad is taking care of Fandango, one of our breeding bulls, and he's taking awesome care of him. Jenny was taking pictures of him and she wanted me to walk behind him and get in the picture. I got about 25 yards from him and he came after me and just about got me before I jumped over the fence. For being almost 12 years old and crippled, he can sure move fast! That, or I'm just getting slow! lol
Hunting season opened a couple weeks ago and I shot a nice 9 point buck on my place! It's the first year I hunted on my own land, so it was pretty exciting. Jenny hasn't shot her deer yet, so hopefully she shoots a bigger one this weekend.
Jesse is down for the winter. He got here last Saturday. He left on Monday to head to Las Vegas for the NFR. He's working a booth for someone the whole time. He'll be back a week from next Monday. He went to Dallas before flying to Vegas to get his hand checked on by the doctor that did his surgery. His hand is healing good, but he still needs to do his hand exercises to get it back to normal. He still can't do much with his hand. Hopefully he gets it working so I can put him to work around here! ha
Tall Paul is doing good. He spent Thanksgiving in South Dakota at Jesse's. They went hunting most of the time. Tall Paul shot a pretty nice 8 point buck. Jesse shot a little Y buck that looks like Bambi! Hopefully Tall Paul will get to come down here and hang out for Christmas. He got the final draft of the book sent to him from the publisher. If there aren't any edits, it will go to the printers. We should have more information about the book in the next few days. I'll post the information as soon as Tall Paul gets it from the publishers.
Until, next time, remember to smile and thank the good Lord for all his blessings.
God Bless,
Chad Drury

I can't believe it's already been two years since Shane has been living his new life with the Lord. It feels more like a couple months that a couple years. I'll be spending a lot of time tomorrow thinking about all the great memories of Shane. He may be gone, but he'll never be forgotten. It's amazing how many lives he touched in such a short period of time. I'm proud to have a little brother that can make a difference in people like he did.
Jenny and I will be flying to Las Vegas with her parents for the PBR Finals this weekend. Jenny wants to shop and I want to play poker! We're both really looking forward to the little vacation. We'll be coming back on Tuesday.
Jesse is in Colorado at dad's place. They are getting ready to go elk hunting. His hand is much better after surgery, so he has no excuse if he misses!
I hope you all are doing well and walking it out. Remember to smile and tell someone about God!

Well, it's been a work in progress, but I finally have the new site up and running! I hope you all enjoy the new site. My favorite part of the site is Shane's testimony that he did in June of 2006 at Trinity Fellowship in Sayre, Oklahoma during the Camp of Champions rodeo bible camp. I strongly encourage everyone to listen to it. I'm also happy to say that all of the posts Shane made when he started his website are now on for everyone to read. I read through them on a regular basis and am amazed on how great his attitude was even when times were tough. I'll be adding several more pictures and articles over the next several weeks so keep checking back. If you have any suggestions or ideas on making this site better, please let me know. You can go to the Contact Us page and send me an email. Also, be sure and leave a message on the message board and let us know what you think.
All is well at the Nothin' But Try Ranch. I've been staying busy getting the place cleaned up. Jenny's parents came up last weekend. Pam helped Jenny inside the house and Jackie helped me haul off junk, clean pens and brush hog. I'm proud to say that I have great in-laws! I'm going to Woodward on Monday morning to take my driving test for my CDL. Hopefully they aren't too tough on me! Jenny is feeling much better which is great. Thank you Lord!!
Jesse made it back to South Dakota earlier this week. He went from the nice weather down south to snow! His hand is progressing well so he can't use it as an excuse for missing a deer this year!
Tall Paul has been staying busy between work and his cabin. I haven't been up to his cabin yet, but am looking forward to seeing the place soon. He's spent a lot of time getting it fixed up for hunting season all summer.
I hope everyone is doing good and and enjoying life. Don't forget to thank the Lord for all his blessings!
God Bless,
Chad Drury

I apologize for not updating Shane's site in a while. I've been hesitant to give regular updates due to the messages at the bottom getting deleted every time I make a new post. I figured out a solution to the problem though! We are going to upgrade the site and make some big changes that will allow us more room. We are going to dedicate a page exclusively for the updates Shane has made in the past that have been deleted for everyone to witness his determination and faith while battling cancer. We are also going to have a page for the book Tall Paul has written about Shane's life. There will also be a photo section of Shane from growing up to bull riding pictures. This will take time to do but we will have it done soon.
Everything is going great at the Nothin' But Try Ranch. I've been busy on the ranch and hauling water off oil wells. I'm in the process of getting my CDL and will be looking into buying a winch truck to move frac tanks. Jenny has been busy with work and keeping me lined out! lol She hasn't been feeling the greatest lately, so please say a little prayer for her.
Jesse has been in Texas for the last month. He had surgery on his hand and has been doing rehab. PTL his surgery was very successful and he should be back to roping in no time. He'll be headed back home next week to go hunting with Tall Paul. Hopefully he doesn't miss like he did last year!!
Tall Paul is doing good. He's been spending a lot of time at his cabin getting ready for elk season. He wanted me to update everyone on Shane's book as well. There has been a delay in the publishing and the book will probably not be out until after the new year. We are hoping to have copies available for the Black Hills Stock Show in Rapid City, South Dakota which is held the end of January. If that works out, we will try to have a booth available there. At some point, the publisher will be able to give us an exact release date which we will post immediately. There will also be a link available on this website with information on about the book and where to purchase a copy. In addition to regular outlets, the book will be available directly from the publisher or from Tall Paul, himself. We will also post any book signings where you can pick up a copy of the book and get it autographed. Keep checking Shane’s site and we will post all the information as it becomes available.
I hope everyone is doing well. Remember to smile because Jesus loves you!
God Bless,

Psalm 34:1-3 I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. My soul will boast in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together.
The new bracelets are here. They are much better than the last ones! They are close to the same but the Nothin' But Try <>< SWD will be debossing with color fill. The colors are exactly the same. Debossing is pretty much engraving so the problem the first 500 had of the ink wearing off and having a blank band will not happen. If you placed an order and did not receive your bracelet please send a message to this site. The first bracelets sent out were put in regular envelopes and I have been informed they cannot be mailed that way. Thanks for supporting Shane's Scholarship and please keep the orders coming in!
God Bless

You can place your order by sending your mailing info and $5.00 for each band to Jesse Drury at 12262 Boulder Road, Sturgis, SD 57785. Please make your checks payable to the Shane Drury Scholarship Fund.

The summer is almost over and it seems like it just started! Things have been really busy around here lately. Between taking care of the cows, roping, working and spending time with Jenny, I've been staying hooked up.
Our best bull, Deal of the Day, broke his horn last week. He hit heads with another one of our bulls and it broke. We put him on antibiotics right away, which has really helped. His horn drops down a little bit, but we aren't going to have to cut it off, which is good. It should be healed in 6 weeks or so. Jenny was very upset about Dealo breaking his horn because she loves that bull and he's her pride and joy! I'm glad he's going to be okay!
I came very close to winning a new Dodge pickup a few weeks ago at a roping. I ended up 3rd high point overall and won a buckle and a heel-o-matic. I was happy, but sure wish I would have won the pickup since I was so close. My roping hasn't been too good the last couple of weeks since I haven't been practicing much. For only roping for about 9 months, I can't really complain.
We got Daisy, our Border Collie, back from college a couple days ago. Jenny was sure excited to have her back home. She's started pretty well with working cattle. I've worked with her every day this week and she seems to be doing good. She listens really good, which is the complete opposite from before college. Her and Tootie have been getting along pretty good. Daisy had to line her out and let her know who's boss a few times.
Jesse has been staying busy with his brochure business all summer as usual. He got bucked off one of his young horses a while ago and tore some tendons in his left pinky. He has to have surgery in a few weeks to get it fixed since he waited too long to go to the doctor. He's been roping some, but not as much as usual because of his hand. He's going to come down here sometime after his surgery for the winter.
Tall Paul finished Shane's book and sent it off to the Publisher. We will be accepting orders once we have an availability date and the price finalized. The book should be out no later than mid November. We'll have a better idea once we hear back from the Publisher. Keep checking back for updated information about the book. I read the rough draft and it is definitaly a must read!
I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the summer. Always remember that Jesus loves you!
God Bless,
Chad Drury

Well, it's been a pretty busy summer so far. I can still see like an eagle without my glasses or contacts, PTL!!! I finally got the last bedroom of the house tiled yesterday. It was a major undertaking for me to tile our entire 1800 square foot house. The prep work was a nightmare! Termite damage, water damage, replacing floors, putting in two showers, backer board, tile and grout is not too exciting. All I need to do now is put the baseboards back on, which is probably going to take a while since I have to pull all the old nails out of them. Looking back, the results are well worth the back breaking work! Jenny really likes it too! She better since she picked out the tile and grout!!! lol
Shane's 29th birthday would have been June 29th. It wasn't the best day, but it was better than last year's. One really neat thing happened though. I have 5 yearling heifers at my father-in-law's place and one of them had a bull calf. The heifer was only 15 months old, which means she was bred at 5 1/2 months. I bought the heifer from a guy in Texas after he weaned them. The bull calf's sire is either a bull called Hat Trick or Surprise Package. I'm either going to name the bull Shane's Trick or Shane's Surprise depending on the sire. The calf looks just like an Oreo Blast that you would buy at McDonald's. There is no doubt in my mind that the little guy is gonna buck!!
I started roping last October and bought a heading horse this year. I don't get to rope too much but try to as much as I can. There is a little saddle series roping about 45 minutes from here on Wednesday nights that I have been going to. I've been catching more than I miss but haven't had much luck with my heelers on the ones I catch. Last Wednesday was different and I won the roping which was the first time I've ever won money team roping! It was a really good confidence booster. I'm going to a truck roping in Texas next weekend, so hopefully things will all fall into place and Jenny will have to drive a new pickup home!
Jesse has been doing good and staying busy keeping his brochure racks filled up. He went to some pro rodeos over the 4th and won 2nd at one in North Dakota. I was really excited to hear that he's roping like the Jesse Drury is supposed to! He plans on coming down again for the winter which will be nice.
Tall Paul is staying busy in Colorado by trying to be the next Magnum PI and playing at his cabin with Aspen up in the mountains. He put the finishing touches on Shane's book and will be sending it off to the publisher.
I hope everyone's summer is going great! Until next time, remember Jesus loves YOU and don't forget to smile!
God Bless,
Chad Drury

Praise the Lord, my Lasik surgery went good! The surgery lasted maybe 5 minutes total. It didn't hurt at all, but felt really weird. I have to put drops in every hour. I'm not supposed to do any ranch work due to the risk of an eye infection especially since the wind is so bad and there is a lot of sand out here. It's been tough staying away from everything, but I'm doing my best! Jenny sure keeps me lined out though.
My friend, Erin, came up to visit us for the weekend with her family. She was one of my patients when I worked in Houston. She's a very special person and I always enjoy spending time with her.
Our problem first calf heifer still isn't cooperating with us and won't accept her calf. After this weekend, if she doesn't let the calf nurse on her own, we're gonna turn the cow out and start bottle feeding the calf.
Jesse and Tall Paul are going to give Shane's scholarship away at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming next weekend. I'm not going to be able to make the trip up there this year, but sure wish I could be there.
I hope all is going well with everyone! Have a great weekend!
God Bless,
Chad Drury

Everything is going really good at the Nothin' But Try Ranch! Married life is going great! Jenny and I went to Branson the weekend after our wedding. We had a good time relaxing and enjoying time together. I've been super busy tiling the house. Two and a half rooms to go and we'll be done!! I'll have all but one room done by the end of next week. I have lasik surgery scheduled on June 6th. I'm looking forward to not having to wear contacts or glasses anymore.
One of our heifers had a calf 3 days ago and she won't accept it. To top it off, she's the wildest cow on the place! We've been running the cow in the chute twice a day to let Precious (Jenny names the calves right when they hit the ground) get the food she needs. It's actually pretty fun right now, but hopefully the cow accepts Precious soon. Jenny is having a blast taking care of the new addition. We have two more left to calve. Hopefully they are both bulls. So far, we have 8 heifers and only one bull! Jenny starts working on Monday at the Beckham County courthouse. She's pretty much going to be doing the same thing she was doing at the courthouse in Duncan.
Jesse has been staying really busy with his brochure business in South Dakota. He called me on Memorial Day and said they got a bunch of snow! I sure don't miss the snow that's for certain!
Tall Paul has been putting the finishing touches on the book about Shane's life and staying hooked up with work.
I hope everyone's spring has been going great and all is well. Remember to smile and keep God close to your heart!!

I hope all is well with everyone. Things are going great down here. I've been staying busy redoing the floors in the house. My goal was to have it all done before I get married, but that's not gonna happen since I'm getting married on Thursday and I'm not even half way done! Hopefully I'll get it done by June first. So far, I have 6 calves on the ground with 5 more to go. We named the first bull calf born this year Tid. That was Shane's nickname growing up and just thought it was appropriate to name the first bull calf born on the Nothin' But Try Ranch after Shane. Thursday is the big day and I'm really excited about it. It's gonna be nice to see Jenny every day instead of on the weekends!
Jesse is going back to South Dakota to run his brochure distribution business after the wedding. He plans on coming back sometime in September.
Tall Paul has been busy with work and putting the final touches on Shane's book. He sent us his rough draft, and I'll have to say that it's a must read. Dad is coming down here tomorrow for the wedding and will be staying for the weekend. I haven't seen him for a while, so it's gonna be nice to spend time with him.
Have a great week and remember that Jesus loves YOU!

Chad Drury

I hope everyone is doing well and ready for spring to get here! The winter down here really wasn't too bad at all this year. It's been raining on and off all day today. We need the rain, so it is very much welcomed! My cows are going to start calving any day now, so I'm getting excited. I've been staying busy redoing my bathroom and tiling. I'm hoping to get everything done before the wedding, but it's not looking too good. I'm not much of a carpenter, so the bathroom took a lot longer than I planned. I have my 2 two year old bulls entered in a futurity this weekend in Duncan, which is Jenny's hometown. I've been exercising them since mid December, so hopefully they both do great!
Jesse is still down here hanging out. He's been busy riding a few horses for a guy, shoeing horses and roping. I really don't see him too much during the day. He's been cooking dinner quite a bit which is nice. I'm not much of a cook! He'll be down here until the wedding, then he'll head back to South Dakota to run his brochure business.
Tall Paul is staying busy in Colorado. He's been spending a lot of time on Shane's book. Hopefully it will be done soon. I'm sure it will bring back a lot of great memories of Shane!
I have a computer with internet access now, so I'll be updating things more often. Until next time, remember that Jesus love you!

The second annual “Keeping the Faith / True Grit Award” was presented on Sunday, February 3, 2008 at the Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo in Rapid City, South Dakota at the opening of the rodeo performance. Shane’s record setting, 95 point bull ride on Riverdance at the Reno, Nevada rodeo in 2001was shown in the arena as well as Bob Tallman’s tribute to Shane at the 2006 National Finals Memorial Round in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This year’s recipient was Brian Fulton. Brian, a former Steer Wrestler and Calf Roper has been battling cancer, but is in remission and was recently declared cancer free. Brian was unable to be present for the award and Jim Whiting accepted the award on Brian’s behalf.
The award was presented by Shane’s father, accompanied by Mavis Madison, the sculptor, Kristin Standard of Black Hills Bronze and Jim Sutton of the Sutton Rodeo Company.
The Drury family would like to express their sincere thanks to everyone for helping to promote Shane’s Legacy.
God Bless,

I hope everyone is doing well and having a great start to the new year. Things are going great at the Nothin But Try Ranch. I've been staying busy building fence and exercising my bulls. I'll probably enter two of my two year old bulls in their first futurity next month.
Some more exciting news is that I'm getting married on May 1st this year. I can honestly say that I finally met the one and I'm really happy. Jenny is beautiful inside and out, has a great family, has the same beliefs as I do and loves bucking bulls! What more could you ask for?
Jesse is still hanging out down here. He's been roping pretty much every day. He's been doing a good job cooking, which is nice since I can't cook.
Tall Paul is staying busy in Colorado. He's working hard on the book and hopes to have it completed by the College National Finals Rodeo this summer.
Until next time, keep God close to your heart and don't forget to smile!

Happy New Year! Wow, 2007 sure went by fast not to mention a lot of changes for me. I went to a 60 hour per week business man back to being a full time cowboy. I sure enjoy the change of pace!
Sorry for not posting any updates lately. The ABBI office where I worked relocated to the PBR headquarters in Pueblo, Colorado and I didn't even consider moving there! My last day working was November 30th, so I haven't had internet access since then.
Jesse has been down here for a couple months now. He has it pretty good down here. He works part time for a guy that ropes calves, so he works a little and ropes every day that it's nice. He's been under the weather for the last couple of days so he hasn't done much.
Christmas was great. Jesse and I went to my girlfriend's parent's house. We had a nice and relaxing time. Dad came down for a few days after Christmas. It's been a while since the three of us got to spend time together, so it was nice. Susan Kanode also stopped by on her way through for a couple days.
Overall, things have been going great! I wish you all a great 2008! Like Shane always said, don't forget to smile and remember that Jesus loves you!
