Congratulations to our good friend Corey Navarre! He had one heck of a finals at the NFR. Thanks for handing out the "Nothin' But Try" wristbands to the bull riders. It was nice to see most of them wearing them on their vests.

It seems like the years keep going by faster every year! It's been a great year full of God's blessings. We have been staying pretty busy lately, which is always good. A few weeks ago we found out that we're having a girl. Her name is Addison Grace. I couldn't be any more excited. She's due to arrive April 14th. We're looking forward to the new addition to the family!!!! Addi is healthy and things are looking good, so thank you Father! Jenny has been feeling really good lately which is a big blessing. The first couple of months were pretty tough on her. Hunting season treated me well. I shot a 13 point buck in my pasture which is the biggest buck I've ever shot. I'm getting him mounted and can't wait until it's finished. We're all healthy and all of our animals are too which is a blessing!!!

Jesse has been down here for the last month or so. He's been helping me out quite a bit this year since he's healthy unlike last year. We put in a calf roping chute in one of my pens so he can rope calves at the house. He also has a few outside horses he's been riding for people and shoeing horses. So, he's been staying pretty hooked up.

Tall Paul is doing good. He's starting a government job next week that he seems pretty excited about. It's not too far from his house so he won't have to deal with the Denver traffic too much. It's going to cut into his cabin time which is one thing he's not too excited about. He finally shot an elk this year. He sent us some elk jerky and it is outstanding! Hopefully he'll get another one next year so we can get some more jerky for Christmas.

I hope you all are doing well and have a blessed and Merry Christmas!! Remember to smile and keep God close to your heart. And, don't let your success pass your character!

God Bless,
Chad Drury

It seems like yesterday but it's been three years today since Shane has been living his new life with the Lord. I'll be spending a lot of time today thinking about all the great memories of Shane. He may be gone, but he'll never be forgotten. It's amazing how many lives he touched in such a short period of time. I'm proud to have a little brother that can make a difference in people like he did, especially me.

Jenny and I will be heading to Las Vegas with her parents for the PBR Finals next weekend. We're looking forward to the vacation and seeing friends. We're rooting for Kody Lostroh to win the gold buckle!

Jesse is in Colorado at dad's cabin. They are getting ready to go elk hunting. Hopefully he doesn't miss like he did last year! ha

I hope you all are doing well and walking it out. Remember to smile and tell someone about God!

God Bless,
Chad Drury

Where did summer go!!! We had a great summer but it sure went by too fast! We were gone quite a bit this summer which made it go by real quick. It's starting too cool off which sure is nice. The exciting thing happening is Jenny and I are expecting a baby in April, PTL!! We are really excited about it. Jenny had an ultrasound last week and we saw the baby's heartbeat which was really exciting. We'll find out the sex sometime in November. Jenny has asthma and she had to get off most of her meds, so it's been pretty rough on her. She's been feeling much better this week which is good. We also bought 2 two year old Palmino geldings a few weeks ago. They sure are good looking horses. Everything else is going great.

We have a Facebook page setup for Shane's book. We encourage you to check it out and refer your friends to it. The link is http://www.facebook.com/NothinButTry

If you are ever in Ft. Pierre, South Dakota, you should visit the Casey Tibbs South Dakota Rodeo Center. It is a historical museum devoted to the sport of South Dakota rodeo, the history and its stars. We donated some of Shane's rodeo memorabilia to put on display there to honor Shane.

Jesse is staying with us for a month so he can practice up for the USCRA Finals in Stephenville, Texas at the end of the month. He'll then go back to SD for a while then elk hunting with Tall Paul.

Tall Paul is doing good. Work has been pretty slow for him this summer, so he's been spending a lot of time at his cabin. Jenny and I got to spend a few days with him at the cabin. He's done a great job with it. It sure is beautiful up there. I wish it was closer so we could spend more time up there.

I hope everyone has been very blessed this summer. Remember to smile and thank God for all his blessings.

God Bless,
Chad Drury

Ephesians 5:25-27 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

Today would have been Shane's 30th birthday. It's his 3rd birthday that he hasn't been around to celebrate with us. I don't know if it's just me, but it seems like Shane was just here yesterday. It's comforting to know that he's in heaven watching over us. Not a day goes by that I don't think about him. It's amazing how many lives he's touched and continues to touch. Who knows where'd I'd be if it wasn't for him helping me get back in the right direction. Jenny and I just watched his memorial DVD that was played at his memorial service. It sure brings back a lot of great memories.

I hope everyone is having a blessed summer so far. When things get tough, just smile and reach out to God.

God Bless,
Chad Drury

Here's Shane's favorite bible verse:
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strenghtens me.

Sorry it's been so long since the last updated. I'll try to do better.

The 4th Shane Drury Scholarship will be given away at the College National Finals Rodeo in June. There were more applications this year than in the past which is very encouraging. I wish we were able to give scholarships out to all of them. Since there were so many outstanding applications, the Scholarship Committee decided to give 3 scholarships away. The winner will receive a $2500 scholarship. 2nd and 3rd place will receive a $500 scholarship. The two $500 scholarships will be given in Levi Wisness and Lee Akin's name.

It's been a busy last couple of months. We had our last calf a couple of days ago. 24 heifers and 9 bulls this year. We only lost one calf that was born premature. The Lord has really blessed us this year with healthy calves!! I've been staying busy working around the ranch and judging a little. We had a pretty big storm a few weeks ago with 90 mile an hour winds that blew a lot of our trees over. It took me a while to cut down trees and pick up limbs. The Camp of Champions rodeo bible camp at our church was last week. I helped out as much as I could. Jenny and I went to most of the night services. It was great to hear Corey Navarre, Rope Myers, Chico Hines, Stran Smith, Alan Bach, Matt Austin, Cody Custer and others speak. It was a true inspiration. The camp seems to get better every year. We have all our bulls turned out on cows for the summer. That's sure gonna help cut down the feed cost, especially since we've gotten a few good rains! Jenny and I plan on going to South Dakota and Colorado the end of July to visit Jesse and Tall Paul. We're looking forward to the trip.

Jesse is staying real busy with his brochure business. He's been working quite a bit since he got back home the first of May. He hurt his knee roping while he was down here, so he hasn't been going to any ropings. He won the last roping he went to down here which was good.

Tall Paul is doing good. He came down for a week in early April. We went to the Weatherford college rodeo to see some old friends. He also had a book signing at the rodeo. Between work and playing at his cabin, he's been staying pretty busy! He will be going to the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming in June to sign books and to give away the Shane Drury Scholarship.

I hope everyone has been blessed and will have a great summer. Remember to keep smiling and to thank the good Lord for all his blessings!

God Bless,
Chad Drury

Galatians 6:9-10 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

I hope all is well with everyone!

Things are going great on the ranch. We got 6 inches of snow over the weekend which was much overdue. Up until then, we've only gotten 1/4 of an inch of rain all year. We're about half way through calving and things are going well with the calves, thank God. We had one cow lose her calf that was premature early in the year, but that's all. Jenny and I go out in the pasture every evening to check cows and watch the calves run around and play. Jenny already has all of the calves named! She won't let them go a day without having a name.

We're headed to Stephenville, Texas next weekend for a bucking bull competition. We entered one of our 2 year olds in the Futurity and entered one of our 3 year olds in the Classic. There are a lot of bulls entered. It's going to be a tough competition and we're hoping our bulls show well. They haven't let us down yet! We'll be leaving early Thursday morning and will be coming back on Sunday.

Jenny's mom is having surgery on her neck on Wednesday. Please lift her up in prayer for her surgery to go well. She has a bulging disk in her neck and has been in a lot of pain. Once she's well, we're hoping her and Jackie will be able to visit us more often!

Tall Paul has been staying busy with work and promoting Shane's book. He went down to the ProRodeo Hall of Fame and met with Tanna Kimble. Books are now on sale there in the gift shop. Additionally, the Lane Frost shirt that Clyde and Elsie donated to Shane's benefit bull riding is hung right outside of the gift shop just as you enter the Hall. He emailed the photograph of Shane and the bull fighters that is in the book and Tanna is going to post it above the shirt with some information as to how the shirt got to the Hall and a mention about the book which you can purchase in the gift shop. Tall Paul is scheduled to do a radio interview on KGAB 650 AM radio out of Cheyenne, Wyoming on April 3, 2009 at 8:00 am. If you are in the area, be sure and tune in! Dad also will be coming down here a week from Wednesday. We will be going to the college rodeo in Weatherford, Oklahoma. He will be signing books while we are there. I'm looking forward to seeing some old friends that will be there.

Jesse is doing good. He's been staying busy touching base with his customers for his brochure distribution business in South Dakota and trying to get a few additional customers. It's been a challenge this year since the economy is down. He's also been shoeing a bunch of horses and roping.

Until next time, don't forget to smile and thank God for blessing us all!

God Bless,
Chad Drury

Romans 12:9-13 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.

I hope everyone is having a great year so far!

Tall Paul had a great book signing in Rapid City at the Stock Show. We had a lot of support from the media and the Stock Show staff. This was the first of many book signings to come. Thanks Rapid City for your support. The next book signing will be in April at the college rodeo in Weatherford, OK. If you have already purchased a book, bring it by and Tall Paul will sign it for you. If you don't have one yet, Tall Paul will have books available at the signing.

We would also like to recognize Julian Whitcher from Scenic, SD for receiving the 3rd Annual Shane Drury "Keeping the Faith/True Grit Award" at the Black Hills Stock Show. Julian broke his neck in the Rookie Saddle Bronc Riding at the Cheyenne Frontier Days last year and is paralyzed from the chest down. He received a bronze sculpture of Shane. Thank you Mavis Madison and Black Hills Bronze for donating the bronze sculpture.

All is well on the ranch. I've been staying pretty busy working and taking care of things on the ranch. We bucked our yearling bulls last week and were very pleased. One of our calves was outstanding. He was the first bull calf born on the Nothin' But Try Ranch, so we named him "Tid" since that was Shane's nickname. Here is a video of him:

Another one of the calves, "Shane's Trick", really bucked good too. He was born unexpectedly on Shane's birthday! I'm taking a couple of our 2 year old bulls to a futurity this weekend in Stephenville, Texas. Hopefully they do well!

Jesse and Tall Paul are doing good. Jesse has been roping and shoeing horses lately. Tall Paul has been staying busy with work and playing on his snowmobile at his cabin!

Take care and remember to thank our good Lord for all his blessings!

God Bless,
Chad Drury

Happy belated New Year to all!

2008 was a great year and 2009 will be even better!!!

We've gotten great feedback on Shane's book! Everyone that has gotten a copy said it was a great book.

Well, I've been staying pretty busy this year so far working and taking care of things on the ranch. We've had 3 calves so far. Two of them are identical twin bulls and the other is a heifer. They are embryo transfer calves sired by Whitewater out of our best cow. We have a couple more that should calve any day now along with some heifers that are due pretty soon. We should have 32 calves this year which is exciting! The weather has been very mild for January so far which is good for the cows. It hasn't rained in 3 months so my 20 acres of wheat looks terrible. It's supposed to rain this weekend which will be nice and well overdue. Jenny has been doing good. She stays busy with work and keeping me on my toes! She goes out nearly every day to pet her girls. Her girls are all our 2008 heifers. She's very partial to Precious who we raised on a bottle since her momma abandoned her. If she could bring them all inside and give them a room, she would in a heartbeat!

Jesse is doing good. I haven't kicked him out yet since he's been down here. I kicked him out several times last year but he never left! ha!! We get along great for the most part and it is really nice to get to spend time with him. His hand still isn't as good as it needs to be which is frustrating to him. The funniest thing I've seen in a while happened to him the other day. We were trying to get one of my recip cows in the chute that had lost a premature calf to see if one of the twin bull calves would suck her so it wouldn't be so hard on the other cow to raise two calves. This cow got was really hot for an old brangus cow. I was making rounds with her in the pen having a little fun. She didn't have horns, so I was pretty confident she wouldn't get me down. Jesse was working the gate so we could run her in the tub. For some reason, he left his post and went to the corner. The cow noticed him and ran right at him. He jumped halfway up the fence, which wasn't good enough. The cow hooked him pretty good and helped him over the fence. I was laughing before he hit the ground. I asked him if he was okay and he said no, but I kept laughing. I seriously couldn't help it. He ended up being okay and kinda laughed with us. I still laugh just thinking about it.

Tall Paul will be coming down to visit at the end of the month. He'll be staying for a few days. I haven't seen him for quite a while, so I'm looking forward to hanging out. Jesse is going to ride back to Colorado with him and then they are going to go to Rapid City, South Dakota for the Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo. They will be there to present Shane's True Grit award that is given out there every year. Tall Paul will also be doing book signings at the trade show February 6, 7 and 8.

I hope everyone is doing great and is having a great year so far. When you put God first, everything takes care of itself! Just remember that Jesus loves all of us!

God Bless,
Chad Drury
